The Junior Schools' Polo Tournament
Longdole
Polo Club, Sunday 5th June,
2005
| Sixteen teams gathered on
a dull but thankfully rain-free day to play
for the Harrow Cup. The full
size ground was in first class condition,
our thanks to Maj & Mrs Hanbury
for allowing us to play at
Longdole. Mrs Lavinia Black
and Mr Dan Banks umpired the
24 chukkas,
giving encouragement to the younger teams. The tournament was sponsored by Mr & Mrs Tony Emerson of South American Trade Services (SATS). Roundabout Catering kept everyone happy on a chilly day. We welcomed a new school, Luckley Oakfield, who we hope will now be a regular participant in our tournaments. Play was of a very high standard with the final of the main tournament resulting in a draw. Both teams agreed that they would prefer a run-down (one team on each side of the ground starting on one back line - first to get the ball over the opposite back line wins), which was won by Winchester House Blue. The Countess of Tyrone kindly presented the prizes. |
