PRE CHRISTMAS UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT Inglesham Polo Club 7th December 2005 By Michael Hobday What a day and what a great start to the University season. Shortened to one day due to numbers, 4 Universities entered 8 teams for this Beginners Tournament. None were disappointed as each side played 3 chukkas. Possibly the best 2 teams, Reading and Oxford Brookes 2 met in the semi final, a match which went to sudden death penalties to separate them. Reading running out the winners. London brought 4 teams and saw themselves with their first team in the final against Reading, unfortunately this Reading team are obviously on form as they scored several goals, unopposed in the final to win this inaugural tournament. Oxford Brookes took the opportunity to try out 9 players and played each other in the Losers final. Royal Agricultural College were the best of the rest and not far off from a top 3 place. The students were well looked after by Zoe, Paul and the Inglesham staff and with a cold clear day the burger van did good business. Roxton Sporting our sole saddlery sponsors were on hand to offer advice and equipment as needed.
