2006 SCHOOLS INTERMEDIATE ARENA TOURNAMENT REPORT

Held at Inglesham Polo Club 26th February 2006

From Kate Beim

The National Senior Schools Arena Polo Season is now in full swing. On a cold , windy day at Inglesham Polo Club twenty-four teams played competitive and entertaining polo contesting three Intermediate Divisions. We welcomed back Hurstpierpoint School who have not played for several years and a new school ,Dauntseys. The tournament was heavily over-subscribed and several teams not playing this weekend will be playing on the 12th March at Longdole Polo Club after the Junior Schools Tournament.

The games were all played “off-the -stick”, i.e. without handicaps, the divisions sorted themselves out as the day progressed and all the finals for placings were fiercely contested. One player was overheard saying as they came out of the Arena- “I cant wait to play the grass tournaments”- we hope that this enthusiasm was felt by all.
