Snow and freezing winds, not a good start, but it takes more than adverse weather to deter sixteen teams of enthusiastic polo players. Our thanks go to Major and Mrs Hanbury and Rob and Sue Cudmore for allowing us to play on their first class surface. Dan Banks umpired all day, and was still smiling at the end. SATS were once again our sponsors; some parents were tempted to look after their children’s prizes they were so lovely.


After the first rounds the teams settled into their correct divisions and the remaining chukkas were exciting to watch. Michael Chevis took some wonderful pictures which can be seen on his website. In division one Winchester House Red and Sherborne fought a hard battle with Winchester running out the winners. In division two, Highfield, on its first appearance, beat Cheltenham College B.
