Welcome to the new SUPA Website
As a result of your various inputs and with a view to create an online interface for information and enhanced transactions with our members; we have redesigned your website entirely. We hope that you find that the new functionality and interactive content
will enhance your visits to this website. As you peruse the website, you will see that each of member institution is responsible for entering the needed data for its player members and teams: Membership Forms, Entry Forms and even bespoke information about
each member institution must now be completed online, including bank transfer payments.
There may be other features or omissions which we have all overlooked and we would be grateful if you would contact us immediately. Coming soon will be an online SUPA Shoppe where we will be offering branded items which should appeal to our members.
Looking forward to the 2018 Season!

Health and Safety
Hats from 1st Jan 2018 – new rule. How SUPA address this?
Hat standards are on HPA and BHS website and will placed on the SUPA website.
Introduction of SUPA tags to go on the strap of hats to ensure the hat complies to HPA standard. Approved person to check all hats before allowed to play in a tournament. Description of what is acceptable (manufacturer and standard) to be clear on
SUPA will give warning out pre tournaments about the importance of being properly equipped but the onus has to go back to the parents and students for hats. Under no circumstances can a member play unless the hat is tagged.
Universities – pre tagging event before the tournament with approved hat fitter e.g. RJ Polo
Action: NM to look into
Schools – polo managers to check and tag hats in schools before attending tournaments
Action: CG research and source tags
Action: GG to post information/HPA link on SUPA website
Action: CB/NM to look into any hats that SUPA can provide?
Eyewear – HPA say difficult to recommend a standard. Can only recommend the use of protective eyewear but not enforce it.
Juniors (CG & GG) - held 3 events 20/11/16 – Fun but huge amount of work for small attendance so will not be running again 26/2/17 – West Wycombe 11 teams 14/5/17 – 8 team chukkas. Juniors section been encouraging but difficult to organise
and pull teams together
Ladies (GG) - West Wycombe 16 teams and 9 different schools 25/6/17 – amazing opportunity at Zacara with 36 girls
Seniors (CG) - 5/3/17 Arena 41 teams compared to 28 in 2016 and had to turn teams away. 16 teams in June due to school commitments
Universities (NM) – good year. 160 teams for Winter. Summer – up 20 teams on previous year, Offchurch Bury a success. Luke Sandys-Renton elected by peers as representative on the committee. Separate meeting to be held at Rugby for Unis.
Harold Hodges took team to Gold Cup in Berkshire in March and won!
Unis Summer 2018 - Offchurch/Rugby still to be decided
International – SUPA team went to America. International arena in Ireland. Team from China came over in Summer.
Juniors 25/2/18 13/5/18 Longdole
Seniors 4/3/18 Onley 17/6/18 Kirtlington?
Ladies 18/3/18 24/6/18
Universities 8-11/2/18 Summer tbc
Operating well for Universities
Issues:- Schools still finding website not user friendly and difficult to change details/school information. Would like Schools and Unis to be separate on website.
Separate section for Alumni required.
Information to be updated more regularly. Fixtures to be more obvious.
Schools would like to be able to contact each other via the website and not just via CG. Possible form/search facility
Guidelines on website for children playing polo would be really useful.
Hat warning to go on tournament entry form.
Action: CB DS GG to meet with web provider to discuss/change above issues
Piers feels it is a huge exposure to SUPA if we don’t endorse APSPH (SUPA currently recommends APSPH or places that have Riding Establishment Licence but not exclusively APSPH)
Vote put to committee on whether to endorse APSPH exclusively. (90% of horse hirers at Universities tournament were APSPH)
Action: CB DS Decision made to endorse APSPH exclusively. Changes will be made to the website.
Accounts will be available within 1 week, awaiting trustees report.
HPA clothing lines are available to SUPA with 30/40% discounts.
